The Hope Fence is meant to commemorate your life story.
Want to commemorate a big life moment? Grab a lock and head over to Penn’s Landing.
A 250-foot-long ‘Love Lock’ fence has been installed at Penn’s Landing Waterfront Promenade, near the Hilton hotel, and it’s begging for Philadelphians latch on their own locks.
Dubbed the Hope Fence, it’s inspired by the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris, which has become a popular spot for people to attach locks with their names written on them to the railing. Philly’s version is meant to be a place for people to pay tribute to any life moment.
The fence is a gift to the city by Sarah and Dan Keating, a non-Hodgkin lymphoma survivor. Keating wanted to show his appreciation for the Friends of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Foundation Party with a Purpose Committee.
And unlike the Schuylkill River Boardwalk, where some folks recently tried to start the ‘Love Lock’ trend, the Hope Fence at Penn’s Landing is actually engineered to accommodate the weight of locks. So get to it!
